The Knowledge Bases Special Interest Group and the Western Mass .NET Users 
group are hosting their next monthly meeting Tuesday, February 7 at 6:00 PM in 
Northampton.  Please join us for an interesting introductory presentation and 
conversation on XML.  This session will be platform independent.  Please bring 
an open mind, your ideas, and experience to share with the group.  Software 
developers, project managers, students and anyone interested in software 
development on any platform are encouraged to attend.

David Schein is a Software Engineer who has used various XML
technologies for such things as:
- a transport mechanism in old-school ERP applications
 - meta data document for code-generation
- data store

XML is notorious for being all things to all people. This talk will be
fairly high-level, focusing on the basic technology and common use
cases. Content will include:
- Brief history and description of the XML specification
- Survey of application and related technologies
- When to (not!) use XML and some alternatives
