Users of Shaysnet; I am sending this thru Hiden-tech because there has been a discussion about Shaysnet here in the past, and I suspect there will be another this weekend. On Wed my son and I became the owners of Shaysnet. I have been a friend of David Leonard since somwehere around 1974 or 1975 when we both worked at Kollmorgen. He sold it to us in the hope we would keep it going. Our plan is to do just that, as well as expand and improve things. The change started on Thursday. First one of the suppliers of phone service changed some routings, after they were told several times not to do so. Since I was away at a client's place in CT, I didn't know until I got home, Thurs afternoon. This morning something happened at one of the servers. Looks like email comes in, but doesn't go out. David leonard has been working that problem. I apologize for these problems. I want everything to run as smooth as possible, as quickly as possible. Hopefully by this weekend it will. Why stuff was changed, I don't know. I will do my best to prevent it from happening again. In engineering, I strongly believe in two things: If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and KISS (Keep it simple stupid). The future: I would like to have some feedback of what you would like to see. How could we improve? What new offerings would you like? Please tell me. You can send an email to: jim at nationalwireless.com or ussailis at shaysnet.com High speed internet in the hills: Jim Jr has the same problem that many Shaysnet users have. He lives in Ashfield, and has no chance of DSL or cable. Not enough folks on a street that is too long. Plenty of cows, but they don't appear to want to surf the web. Since I am in the microwave business, and JIm Jr is a antenna tech at a local company, we have begun looking a something wireless, like WiFi or WiMAX. The plan is to instrument & set up an experiment at Jim Jr's place. I will keep in touch...
