[Hidden-tech] Any use for a "vintage" Macintosh?

Robert,

OS X will not install on it at all.

You may need to locate an old Linux ditribution if a compatible edition
exists at all because it's a very old processor from the days before
there was a whole lot of interest in Linux outside of the serious geek
communities. This Mac was the last of it's processor class and predated
the first release of Yellow Dog by about 5 years.
