Program Manager - Technology Program
 
Overview:  The Grinspoon Institute for Jewish Philanthropy, a program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, works to strengthen the long-term effectiveness and economic vitality of Jewish nonprofit organizations.  Mentors work with organizations, such as Jewish overnight camps and day schools, to develop high-performing boards, establish strategic plans, and raise funds for annual, capital, and endowment campaigns. 
 
Job Summary: The Harold Grinspoon Foundation is seeking a Program Manager to oversee the Grinspoon Institute for Jewish Philanthropy’s Constituency Outreach Technology Program for nonprofit Jewish overnight camps and other organizations.  The program manager will ensure the successful implementation of an integrated, online software package (based on SofterWare’s DonorPerfect Online) to support fundraising, outreach to alumni and communications with camp parents and other constituencies. This work will be executed in conjunction with Darim Online, our implementation partner.  Six camps currently use the program, a number expected to increase to 12 by December 2006, and to 40 or more organizations by 2009.  The program manager reports to the Director of the Institute, and works closely with other members of the senior team. 
 
Key responsibilities of the Program Manager are to:
•           Provide ongoing project leadership and management, including reports, communication, budget preparation and monitoring, administration
•           Oversee our outsourced implementation and training partner (Darim Online) and liaise with our primary software vendor (SofterWare) 
•           Promote the program to the 130 non-profit Jewish camps in North America, develop and implement an orientation program for prospective and new camps, and liaise, with camps, throughout the implementation process
•           Understand camp needs, perspectives, and experiences with the program, answer their questions and facilitate resolution of technical and other problems
•           Help camps identify ways of using the technology to support their fundraising, communications and alumni outreach goals. Ensure that the ongoing development, customization and training for the software tools supports these goals 
•           Lead problem-solving (involving Institute staff, Darim Online, SofterWare, camps) on emerging issues affecting the development, implementation, application or training with the software
•           Develop, acquire and disseminate tips, best practices and resource materials on fundraising, constituency communications and alumni outreach. Organize and facilitate regular teleconferences, periodic in-person workshops, ListServ and user group activities to share expert and peer perspectives in these areas
•           Communicate with staff and consultants working with camps in areas of strategy, governance, and fundraising to ensure integrated approach
•           Enhance and maintain Grinspoon Institute web sites and newsletters.
 

 
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
•           Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
•           Technical expertise, particularly in database structure and web design. (HTML experience desired, but not required)
•           Strong project management skills
•           Customer service orientation
•           Excellent analytical and problem solving skills 
•           Flexibility as a team player (able to work on a virtual team via phone, email, web)
 
Other skills/experience which are an asset include:
•           Experience with the design and implementation of information technology projects
•           Experience working with fundraising and/or accounting software and reports
•           College degree with relevant experience, including technical project management
•           Familiarity with Jewish or other nonprofit institutions
