Re: Better way to use Mailman - you may know the HT lists are run using 
mailman - what you may not know is that the list is actually kept in a mysql
database and managed using the custom HT pages -- including some special 
review pages that allow faster release of moderated postings.

I don't think mailman ever released a interface to mysql -- if you are 
interested, we could bundle the interface and that allows a whole higher 
level of interface.
It uses the mailman list sync and some special setuid modules for 
interface to the python from php

Let me know offline if you'd (or anyone) would like to explore this.
