Summary

The General Manager will be responsible for implementing CC's strategy for
accelerated growth into new markets while ensuring that the organization is
capable of delivering and sustaining the high levels of customer delight and
satisfaction that we have already achieved in our traditional marketplace.
The General Manager will bring the CC brand and image to new countries,
increase the global awareness of products and services and creatively
convert that image into a sizable revenue stream.

The General Manager will need to influence and shape the development of a
small, family business whose processes and systems are still in a
developmental phase, into an organization that can reap the benefits of the
General Manager's prior knowledge of Best Practices in operations,
technology, finance and people management. The GM will bring that knowledge
to the organization in a persuasive, consultative, educational and
motivational fashion and will be accountable for driving the entire
organization to achieve its lofty goals.

The GM will need to incorporate the strategic planning framework that CC
employs to ensure the integration of long term revenue goals with the well
being of employees and the core values of the company that make CC an
attractive place to work. They will need to familiarize themselves and
integrate the major tactics the company has implemented to achieve the
strategy. These include: great tours, happy guides, high touch experiences
and satisfied employees, partners, vendors and friends of the company. They
will need to work hand and hand and closely with the company's founders who
will continue to have both significant strategic and operational
responsibilities.

The General Manager will be responsible for ensuring a financial return on
investment, will bring skills in driving down the cost of sale and delivery,
will relentlessly look at all aspects of organizational and  financial
improvements and work in harmony with the executive team of which they will
be a part.


Qualifications and Competencies

- The individual must have extensive experience in the travel / hospitality
industry, with knowledge of the best practices, systems, and processes in
those industries
- Experience managing and motivating staff is required; must have a
consultative style with the ability to shape and influence the organization
- Knowledge of corporate finance and analysis is required.
- Some international experience is required; European destination experience
preferred
- Willingness to have sensitivity to and patience with a boutique company
culture.
- Thorough knowledge and expertise with direct-to-consumer marketing
strategies.
- Leadership skills as a member of the Executive Team.

Job Description, General Manager


Major Responsibilities/General Duties

1.	MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES
Drive a major marketing initiative to open and harvest new markets in Europe
and elsewhere. bring both branding and creative marketing expertise to bear
on the ambitious growth objectives of the company. Energize and build upon
the skills of the CC Marketing team to engage in creative market research
and marketing/promotional activities. Concurrently, direct the continuing
improvement of Ciclismo tours and the on-going fulfillment of innovative new
tours and destinations by evaluating results, competitive developments,
market trends, skills requirements and resources needed. Establish a
research and development program that would allow for profitable and
sustainable launch of new divisions in Europe and New England
Execute marketing and operational partnerships that will help sustain long
term growth and superior brand recognition. Establish and maintain strong
relationships with industry peers and major "players" (business or actual
customer leverage). Drive the "Ciclismo Cult Concept" (modeled after
Harley's HOG program) as a major marketing channel that in three years will
result in 10 Club Chapters around the country.  Deliver a high touch, active
lifestyle brand that leverages customer loyalty like no other competitor.
Leverage the primal urge that cyclists have to gather and share the passion
about their sport. 


2.	PROVIDE DAILY OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND DIRECTION TO ALL STAFF by
ensuring that that the entire CC team as well as the Executive Team is
engaged in fulfilling the operational and customer care/ delight
requirements in traditional and new markets that will be served. This
includes customer delight in tours, equipment, guides, hotels, meals and the
full experience. That internal operational leadership will need to include
faithful attention to the company's core values of full involvement,
teamwork and open, candid communication up and across the department and the
entire organization.

3.	DIRECT AND OVERSEE CC TRIP DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATING BUDGETS by
establishing departmental goals and objectives, production and service
standards; formulating overall operating strategies; issuing guidelines and
timelines on developing respective trip execution plans, budgets and
corresponding action plans.  

4.	MONITOR AND REVIEW PRODUCTION AND OPERATING PLANS AND BUDGETS
AGAINST ACTUAL RESULTS by developing and implementing a production and
operating reporting system showing actual results compared to budget.
Develop action plans on a weekly basis, incorporating the status of finished
and in-process tour products and services in terms of the criteria
established for superior product and in terms of the internal cost involved;
analyze and interpret production and quality data; implement corrective
actions.   

5.	EVALUATE CICLISMO TEAM PERFORMANCE by reviewing and monitoring
individual staff performance on a frequent basis and providing constructive
feedback, coaching, mentoring and professional performance management.
Responsibility to coordinate and collaborate with the Executive Team on
hiring and dismissal issues.


6.	DIRECTS AND OVERSEES TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT OF SALES STAFF by
using CC's adaptation of the Topgrading System and constantly monitoring
skills requirements; determining professional training sources in close
coordination with HR department; scheduling actual training program and
following up on results. 

7.	DRIVE THE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT OF THE COMPANY by assisting managers
in achieving cost efficiency; by creating, managing and overseeing the
annual budgeting and reporting process, by creating and managing the
forecast/outlook process on a monthly basis, by managing the IT function and
by closely monitoring the financial profitability and well being of the
operations
