Greetings Hidden-Tech folks. This is an unsolicited endorsement for the
email below that Josh of nohojobs.com posted in July about using his board
to post internship opportunities with your business. The posting cost is
free. At the same time I posted an intern job at nohojobs, I also set up an
internship pipeline with UMass and Smith. I have gotten 10 times more
applicants from nohojobs.com and many of them have been outstanding. So, I
highly recommend considering nohojobs.com if you have been thinking of
looking for internship prospects. Overall, the volume and quality of
applicants has been great.

>Hi folks-
>
>I recently launched a new website to serve the employment needs of
>Northampton and neighboring towns, and am actively working on expanding
>our internship section. I attended the recent Hidden Tech meeting held at
>Northampton H.S., but thought it might be helpful to bring this resource
>to the attention of the discussion list as well.
>
>The site -- <http://www.nohojobs.com>www.nohojobs.com -- lists jobs,
>internships and volunteer opportunities available in Northampton and
>neighboring towns. Internships and volunteer opportunities are completely
>free for businesses and organizations to list at all times. Naturally,
>there are a number of colleges in the area who already do a great job of
>working with businesses to source and structure internships for their
>respective student populations. Our site is not intended to compete with
>or replace that function by any stretch of the imagination. Instead,
>NohoJobs.com is intended to list internships available to the community at
>large -- students and non-students alike -- and hopefully encourage
>businesses of all sizes (from one-person shops to larger companies) to
>consider bringing an intern on board, even if they may never have
>considered it before.
>
>So if you are currently looking for an intern, or would even consider
>utilizing an intern in your business at some point in the future, please
>don't hesitate to contact me anytime. I can be reached at
><mailto:josh at nohojobs.com>josh at nohojobs.com or by telephone at
>413-387-8127, and would be happy to either list an opportunity for you or
>discuss the issue further.
>
>Just a few quick final notes:
>
>- Even if you consider utilizing an intern, and were to list an
>opportunity with us, you are never under any obligation to bring someone
>on board. We hope the opportunity would be offered in good faith, but
>just like a job you might be seeking to fill, if you don't find the right
>person, it's usually better to wait (or potentially reconfigure).
>
>- Internships can be paid or unpaid. A well-structured internship can be
>extremely beneficial for both parties -- monetary compensation is always
>nice, of course, but there are many individuals who for one reason or
>another would consider unpaid opportunities.
>
>- Listing internships on our site is not mutually exclusive if you
>currently advertise them elsewhere as well. It is simply one more
>resource for getting the word out.
>
>Thank you very much for all your time and consideration. As I mentioned
>above, please don't hesitate to contact me anytime if you have any
>questions at all or think NohoJobs.com can be of service for your business.
>
>Sincerely,
>
