[Hidden-tech] Basic data entry and analysis recommendations?

I am warry of open office. Most of the time it is fine. I've definitely
had it screw up on me, and make me lose all my data (yes, even the data I
had previously saved successfully). They are working on a good thing, but I
do not think they are completely there yet.

Save and back up your data often.

I (finally!) downloaded OpenOffice 2.0 and it includes a database front end.

A quick run through worked without issue (create table + form, enter a
record), and revealed the following features:

    - create table wizard

    - create form wizard

    - support for a wide range of backends (MySql, JDBC, flat text, etc)

    - Windows, Linux, OSX support

    - Free Software
