Hello all, We have found several clients with this similar issue. The common cause has been that while Charter or Comcast says that their customers are paying for a static IP address, they are actually just being given access to a "reserve pool" of IP addresses. In essence, it's still dynamic, it's just that you're pulling from a smaller pool of potential numbers. The end-user often has to reset their broadband connection to pickup another address from the reserve pool. The problem is that often, you'll pickup a different IP than you had previously had. If you had setup remote access, have a mail server, etc, it screws up that connection. We had to go to the mat with Charter on behalf of a client who was using Remote Desktop to connect to her office. Only after confirming that it was a commercial address and was not a home-based business did they actually give her a true static IP, even though she'd been paying for a static IP address for over a year!
