I've looked into HSAs and when I last checked a couple of months ago, only one MA insurer had one available and it was no less expensive then the regular plans. The potential savings of 50% over regular plans that I'd read about in Newsweek and elsewhere were just not there. Perhaps as more providers offer them the plans will get better, but at the moment, at least in MA, there doesn't seem to be much available. Personally, since nationalized health insurance is not likely anytime soon, I'd like to see the New England states and New York get together and create a Regional health insurance compact. I've talked with Stan Rosenberg about this but don't know if anyone is seriously considering it. Perhaps it will take another 20% of the population loosing their insurance before anything happens. There is legislation in development in the MA State House for state-wide health insurance, ways to fund it are currently being studied.
