There's a great local furniture maker named Tad. I don't know if he  
does "smalls" such as you need, but generally he'll build anything  
interesting:

If you don't mind plastic, there are several companies (such as SKB)  
that make custom cases for musical instruments and cameras. These can  
be designed with foam and hard plastic to withstand air travel,  
falling out of boats, elephant attacks, and so on. I've had custom  
size drum cases built.
Or if you watch the surfing documentary "Step Into Liquid," there's a  
segment about "the" guy who makes waterproof, lightweight camera  
housings in Hawaii.
